Turkiye 2013 - day 1 in Istanbul

After a harrowing drive in a thunderstorm and long flight from Dulles to Istanbul, here we are! This is the first time in Turkey for all of us except one of the professors, so it is equally cool for everyone in the group. One of our members has never been on a plane or left the country and he is loving the experience, what a great way to get introduced to traveling. But it is contagious. :)

We met our guide Hakan, checked into a really neat small hotel in the old part of the city, and went out for a great dinner. I took a bunch of photos with my new digital camera that I will try to attach. More tomorrow, as it is late and tomorrow is a long and busy day.
